The PBA Philippine Cup kicked off with a can't-miss matchup between the “forever rivals” in the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots and Brgy. Ginebra to open PBA Season 50 last October 5, and the Daily Fantasy app has since seen a noticeable surge in users.
That’s not all that surprising, as Filipinos love nothing more than to flex their basketball IQ on their peers whenever possible — all in the spirit of good and friendly competition.
When it comes to basketball knowledge, though, only a handful of coaches who have graced the PBA’s illustrious history can compare to Coach Chot Reyes and his wealth of experience.
The current head coach of the TNT Tropang 5G gladly gave Daily Fantasy an inside look into his mindset, particularly about his All-Time Daily Fantasy Lineup.
Last September 14, Daily Fantasy, in collaboration with Hoopbus, celebrated the makeover project of the PHVORA Basketball Court in Las Piñas, Metro Manila. Coach Chot Reyes was also present at the event as a speaker and Brand Ambassador for Daily Fantasy.
Though he had a busy day ahead of him, the six-time PBA Coach of the Year awardee shared with Daily Fantasy his All-Time Lineup (based on a pool of his former wards from both the PBA and as head coach of Gilas Pilipinas).
“Of course, my point guard has to be Jimmy Alapag. Allan Caidic has to be there, the best shooter. And then my favorite, Alvin Patrimonio, is at one of the forward spots together with Danny Seigel. The center has to be June Mar Fajardo,” he said.
With over 36 years of coaching experience under his belt, Reyes’ picks can certainly put up massive Fantasy Points (FPs) on any given night.
Selecting Jimmy Alapag should be no surprise, as “The Mighty Mouse” captained Reyes’ TNT teams to three Philippine Cup titles and a Commissioner’s Cup championship by being the renowned coach’s extension on the floor.
Allan Caidic, Alvin Patrimonio, and Danny Seigel are excellent picks in their own right. “The Triggerman” was one of the most prolific three-point shooters during his era, while Patrimonio and Seigel are do-it-all forwards who would have racked up solid numbers across the board.
Unsurprisingly, Reyes selected San Miguel Beermen star June Mar Fajardo to man the center spot. It’s a no-brainer decision since “The Kraken” is a nightly double-double terror that logs a decent amount of steals and blocks per game, which amounts to monstrous FPs — a sight that many Daly Fantasy players are all too familiar with.
Think you can replicate Coach Chot’s on-court success in your own way?
