Basketball is far and away the number one sport in the Philippines, and for good reason. The sport is accessible to anyone at any age, and every player is more than willing to help out a newcomer find their groove.
Daily Fantasy, the Philippines’ first-ever fantasy sports platform, is committed to helping grow the sport in any way possible.
In pursuit of that goal, Daily Fantasy spent months trying to find the ideal partner in this endeavor, which eventually became Hoopbus.
A non-profit organization based in Venice, California, Hoopbus aims to uplift communities and bring people together through the game of basketball anywhere and everywhere.
In November 2023, Hoopbus announced on Instagram (@hoopbus.ph) that they will be converting a jeepney, the proudest symbol of Philippine culture, into a version of the Hoopbus. They lovingly called it the “HoopJeep”, making it the first-ever international Hoopbus.
Last September 14, Daily Fantasy and Hoopbus’ commitment to community-building was felt first-hand by the PVHORA Basketball Court in Pamplona 1, Las Piñas, giving the much-loved court a much-needed makeover.
Making the event even more unforgettable for those in the community was the arrival of current TNT Tropang 5G head coach, the legendary Chot Reyes (link Spotlight to Chot Reyes here). The 11-time PBA Champion and former Gilas Pilipinas mentor was more than happy to share his skills and talk about how important basketball can be as a platform towards community-building and, eventually, nation-building.
With how well received the event was by the community and on social media (link to our FB/IG post of the Hoopbus event), Daily Fantasy and Hoopbus are excited to keep the partnership going and bring communities even closer together through the sport of basketball.
